During the initial extensive driving day across the sandy and rocky terrain of Tibet, various attractions such as lakes and nomadic herders tending to their thousands of yaks and sheep will engage your attention. By late afternoon, you will traverse the Bhramha Purtra River en route to a quintessential Chinese and Tibetan town. At this point, we will reach an altitude exceeding 4500 meters, where the air becomes thinner. It is essential to exercise caution regarding altitude; therefore, taking breaks and maintaining adequate hydration through liquid diets is advisable.

Begin your day with an early breakfast in preparation for another thrilling adventure. In the late afternoon, you will have the opportunity to admire the majestic Holy Mt. Kailash and the serene Lake Mansarovar. Our journey today will take us past a quaint village located near the shores of Holy Mansarovar Lake. Take pleasure in the tranquil waters of Holy Mansarovar, situated at an elevation of 14,950 feet (4,558 meters). This lake, renowned as the highest freshwater lake, boasts a stunning turquoise hue and is teeming with fish and swans. The breathtaking Holy Mt. Kailash, Mt. Gurula-Mandala, and Lake Rakshash are all part of the picturesque landscape. Revel in the magnificent views of Gurla Mandhata/Naimonanyi Peak as it sparkles in the distance. This area is rich in natural resources, including gold and other minerals, as well as hot springs. The region is also home to a diverse array of wildlife. During our drive, we will have the chance to visit several monasteries, including the Dargyeling Monastery, as we pass through Lhaksang and Zamlungla, ultimately reaching the Mudhouse.

The long-awaited inaugural day of our Kailash Kora has finally arrived. The first day of the Kailash Outer Kora is characterized by a gentle and manageable pace as we rejuvenate ourselves with profound energy. Following a brief drive from Darchen, we will reach the Tarboche Flagpole, adorned with vibrant prayer flags. This flagpole is newly erected and decorated by devotees during the annual Saga Dawa festival. Although the east-west ridge obstructs the view of Mt. Kailash, the impressive Gurla Mandata (7728m) can be seen to the southeast. We traverse a stunning rocky cliff, where waterfalls and clouds against the clear blue sky evoke a sense of the omnipresence of the Great God Shiva, bestowing numerous blessings upon us. Occasionally, the visage of Kailash Parbat will emerge before us. Our accommodation for the night is in a simple guesthouse featuring 4 to 5 beds, complemented by the magnificent view of the northern face of the sacred Kailash.

Following breakfast, we will embark on a trek to Charansparsh, a revered spiritual location situated approximately 3 km away (one way). Charan Sparsh is celebrated as a testament to the commitment and faith of pilgrims journeying to Mount Kailash. Visiting Charan Sparsh represents a spiritual journey, embodying devotion and humility. In the evening, we will return to Derapuk. A packed lunch will be provided for participants of the trek. Guests who choose not to partake in the visit to Charansparsh may enjoy a leisurely day at the guest house. An overnight stay will be arranged at the guest house in Derapuk.

On this day, we will ascend to the Dolma La Pass at 5630 meters (18471 feet) and subsequently descend to Zuthulpuk at 4700 meters. This segment of the trek is regarded as the most arduous. Upon reaching the summit, it is customary to make sacred offerings and engage in meditation to attain a state of eternal tranquility. As we begin our descent, the Parvati and Gauri Kunda will come into view, where pilgrims collect water. By late afternoon, you will arrive at Zuthulpuk, known as the Cave of Miracles, where the revered ascetic Milerappa is believed to perform miraculous feats. The pass holds significance for Buddhists, who associate it with the goddess known as the Container, while Hindus connect it to Parvati, the divine consort of Shiva. We will navigate the steep and rocky ascent to the Dolma La Pass, where fluttering prayer flags will welcome us at the summit.

This sacred location is dedicated to Goddess Tara, who is venerated for her compassion and nurturing qualities. At this site, you may partake in sacred offerings and meditate to transcend the self. As you continue your descent, you will encounter Parvati Kunda and Gauri Kunda along the way. By late afternoon, you will reach Zuthulpuk, the Cave of Miracles, where the great ascetic Milerappa is said to perform his wonders.

Today presents a more enjoyable walking experience, with minimal elevation changes. We will trek alongside the river, entering the beautiful Gold and Red Cliffs, a narrow canyon characterized by its purple, cobalt, and rust-stained walls. After a leisurely two hours of trekking, we will arrive back at Darchen.

There, our vehicle will be prepared to transport us to Saga. During our journey, take the opportunity to appreciate Lake Mansarovar and Chiu Gompa one final time. We will spend the night at a guest house in Saga.

After Breakfast, we will embark on a scenic drive to the Kathmandu border, where we will complete the necessary formalities at the Chinese immigration office before proceeding to Kathmandu. After an early breakfast in Saga, our route will take us towards Kerung, a charming town located near the Nepal-Tibet border. This journey will provide breathtaking views of the Tibetan landscape as we navigate through the mountainous terrain. Our objective is to arrive at the Nepal/China border by early afternoon, where we will undertake the required immigration and customs procedures. Upon reaching the border, you will first complete the exit formalities on the Chinese side, followed by the entry procedures on the Nepali side. Please be advised that this process may require some time. Once all immigration and customs formalities are finalized, we will resume our journey to Kathmandu, arriving by evening. We will spend the night at a hotel in Kathmandu.
