Annapurna Base Camp trek itinerary
You will begin the Annapurna Base Camp trek with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From Pokhara, drive to Nayapul and start hiking from here.
On the first day of the trek, you will ascend to Tikhedhunga (1,480 m/4,855 ft) or Ulleri (1,960 m/5,430 ft) village. The trail is easy going till Tikhedhunga, but the ascent to Ulleri includes climbing several stone staircases.
It can be quite challenging for some trekkers. Likewise, from Ulleri, you will walk through rhododendron and oak-covered hills to Ghorepani village (2,860 m/9,385 ft).
The next day, enjoy a beautiful sunrise and an impressive panorama of the western Himalayan range that includes more than 20 mountains from Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,525 ft).
After that, you will descend back to Ghorpeani and trek to Tadapani (2,630 m/8,628 ft). Leaving Tadapani, you will hike to Chhomrong village (2,170 m/7,119 ft) to join the main Annapurna Base Camp trail.
Spend a night in Chhomrong and hike to Dovan the next day. On the way, you will cross a suspension bridge over Chhomrong Khola and follow a steep uphill path to Upper Sinuwa.
From here, you will trek for another two hours to reach Dovan (2,600 m/8,530 ft). After Dovan, you will ascend to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700 m/12,139 ft), passing through the Himalaya Hotel and Deurali on the way.
These two are also famous resting points on the ABC trek route. Deurali onwards, the trail enters the Annapurna Sanctuary and also passes by the Hinku Cave.
On the 9th day of the trip, you will hike for three more hours to reach Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m/7,578 ft). The trail from Machhapuchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp is narrow and steep.
You will be surrounded by mountains and glaciers at the base camp. The sight you will behold here is truly magical and life-changing.
Here comes the unexpected thing: you get to spend the night at Annapurna Base Camp, which is not possible in most base camp treks in Nepal, including the Everest Base Camp.
Start the next day early with a beautiful sunrise over the mountains and have a big breakfast before descending to Bamboo (2,310 m/7,578 ft). You will use the same trail that you used to ascend.
From Bamboo, your last walk will be Jhinu Danda (1,780 m/6,393 ft). Here, you will get to enjoy natural hot springs. Drive back to Pokhara for a night's stay and travel to Kathmandu the next day.
