Mt. Kailash (6714 m) - one of the popular mountain peak of Tibet, which is also knownby thename of Tise, Kailash or Kang Rinpoche (Jewel of the Snows) has since time immemorial been celebrated in many eastern cosmologies as Mt. Meru, the axis-mundi. Mt.Meru (Kailash) is sacred to the hindus, the buddhists, the Jains, & the Bonpos, takenas the center of the physical & metaphysical universe.

Our Tibetan guide meets you at the airport and escorts you to the main city (Lhasa) which is 98 km away from the airport. In Lhasa, we make two days guided sightseeing tour for two days that covers almost all the highlighted places situated inside Lhasa. After that we start our journey to Mt. Kailash and lake Manasarovar via Gynatse, Shigatse and Sakya Monastery. As usual, “Lhasa to Mt. Kailash Tour” consists of a 3 days circumambulation around holy Mt. Kailash. The tour ends at Zhang-Mu.

The tour offers rigorous overland driving, trekking and camping, passing the remote and wild western Tibet , in altitudes between 2,745m/9,000ft and 4,880m / 16,000ft and hiking to a maximum of 5600m / 18,400ft.


Itinerary

Day 1:

Arrive Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and rest of the day free for acclimatize. Overnight hotel..

Day 2:

Kathmandu. Half day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple and Swayambhunath stupa.

Day 3:

Kathmandu - Nyalam. Depart at 5.00 am from Kathmandu and drive through the Nepal-Tibet border along the famous Arniko Highway. Stop for a quick breakfast at Dhulikhel and lunch at Kodari. After immigration and customs formalities on both sides (Kodari and Zhangmu), we drive to the small town of Naylam (3700 m). Please note that the guest-houses in Tibet will be of a very basic and dormitory style. Drink lots of water..

Day 4:

Nyalam. A day for rest - to facilitate altitude acclimatization. We may do some hiking around. All meals and overnight stay at the same guest house/camp..

Day 5:

Nyalam - Saga. Drive to Saga (250 kms 4500 m). We start after breakfast, enjoying the grand view of Mt.Shishapangma (8021 m), Gauri Shanker and other high mountains from Lalug la (5050 m) Pass. Packed lunch will be served at sacred Lake Pigutso. Overnight camp/guest house..

Day 6:

Saga - Paryang. Drive to Paryang - after breakfast we drive across the vast Tibetan plateau to Prayang (225 km). Packed lunch will be served. Overnight camp/guest house..

Day 7:

Paryang / Horr Chu. Drive to Lake Manasarovar Camp at Horr Chu. The auspicious day for all travelers having first glimpse of the Holy Manasarovar and Darshan (view) of Mt.Kailash from The Horr Chu pass . Camp for night on the shores of Lake Manasarovar..

Day 8:

Manasarovar. Rest in Lake Mansarovar. The experience of being in the abode of God, while we spend 1 day in Lake Mansarovar it will help us to acclimatize, we can take bath then Drive to Darchen, if time permit trek up to Gangtak Gompa to view close view of Holy Kailash. Overnight camp/guest house.

Day 9:

Trek - Dirapuk. Early in the morning drive up to Tarboche and start trek to Diraphuk (north face of Kailash). Overnight camp.

Day 10:

Trek - Zutulphuk. Trek to Zuthulphuk Gompa - the day of challenging journey that every pilgrim talks about. We trek up to Dolma La Pass (5600 m), offer very short Prayers at the Dolma la and go down towards the Gaurikunda. Lunch and dinner, as usual, will be provided at the camp, in front of medicine Buddha Mountain near by Zuthulphuk Gompa..

Day 11:

Darchen. Zuthulphuk - Darchen - after breakfast, we trek around 8 kms to reach the point where our jeeps will be waiting for us. Trek ends and same day drive to Horr Chu. Overnight camp/guest house..

Day 12:

Paryang. We return through the same route. The same procedure as earlier will be followed for meals and accommodation. Drive to Prayang. Overnight camp/guest house.

Day 13:

Drive to Saga..

Day 14:

Drive to Nyalam..

Day 15:

Drive to Friendship Bridge and Kathmandu..

Day 16:

Final Departure..
